In the US, one in five student visas went to students from India in 2022.

According to US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, Indians received one in every five student visas issued by the United States. This highlights the US consulates in India’s efforts to reduce visa wait times.

The relationship between India and the United States is strong, and it’s worth noting that more Indian students choose to study there than any other country.

The United States hosts more Indian students than any other country, and India held the top spot last year. I anticipate this trend to continue. This relationship reflects our values of welcoming people from all over the world to higher education.

In 2022, India issued one-fifth of all US student visas, which is a higher proportion than the Indian population in the world. This shows that Indians seek education in the United States and excel there. Furthermore, we are set to process the highest number of visa applications in our history.

Consular officers from New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai recently conducted the seventh annual student visa day across India. Nearly 3500 Indian student visa applicants were interviewed during the event.

Did you know that Indian students make up more than 21% of the international student population in the United States? As of the 2021-2022 academic year, nearly 200,000 Indian students studied in the US.

Today is Student Visa Day, commemorating the significant educational relationship between the United States and India. Presently, over 200,000 Indian students are enrolled in various US academic institutions, making up more than 20% of the international student population in the country.

Around 35% of Indian students on F1 status in the United States are finishing Optional Practical Training.

In 2022, Indians received the highest H&L employment visas (65%) and F1 student visas (17.5%) globally. Additionally, over 1.2 million Indians visited the United States, making them one of the largest groups of international visitors.

The US Mission in India is progressing well toward processing more than one million visa applications by 2023. So far this year, they have already processed over 10% of the total worldwide visa volume.

From June to August 2023, the US Mission will conduct a record-breaking number of student visa interviews, surpassing last year’s highest number of over 125,000 issued visas in Mission India.
